Northwest Florida makes Frommer's list of 2010 top destinations

What do Tunisia, Copenhagen, Hanoi, Abu Dhabi, and the Florida Panhandle have in common?

All of them are on Frommer’s list of top destinations for 2010.

Every year the popular travel guide creates the list, which they call a mix of emerging spots, under-appreciated cities, and places they think you need to experience before they're overrun by tourist crowds.

The guide points out that Northwest Florida from Pensacola to Carrabelle contains some of the most diverse recreation choices along Florida's Gulf coast, and some of the best options for visitors seeking an affordable family vacation. It also mentions our stunning beaches, nature trails, great restaurants, and cozy sense of community.

The guide could help more people discover northwest Florida and more will be able to get here with the opening of the new airport in Panama City in May 2010. Southwest Airlines recently announced that it will begin operating non-stop flights to the new airport from four U.S. cities.
