Study finds southern living increases happiness

If you want to be happy, you should live in the south.

That’s the result of a study recently published in Science which found that 6 of the top ten happiest states are in the southeast.

Louisiana tops the list, Florida came in third. Tennessee, Mississippi, South Carolina and Alabama also made the top ten.

Researchers ranked the happiest states (plus the District of Columbia) on self-reported measures of happiness as well as objective measures like sunshine, congestion, and housing affordability.

New York State ranked dead last at number 51 and California fared only slightly better at number 46.
