Deadline for SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans nearing quickly

Local businesses affected by the severe storms, flooding and tornadoes that hit our area in March and April are running out of time to apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans through the Small Business Administration.

The storms passed through the area from March the 26th through May the 5th. The deadline for filing for the loans is January the 28th.

Small businesses and most private non-profit groups in 28 Florida counties including Franklin, Gulf, Wakulla and Liberty Counties are eligible for loans up to 2 million dollars. The money is for businesses that suffered substantial economic injury from the disaster to help pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable, and other bills that could have been paid if the disaster had not occurred. The interest rate on the loans is 4 percent with a maximum term of 30 years.
