Members of the Franklin County Emergency Management office will be in Carrabelle on Saturday to help residents get their Franklin County re-entry tags.
The tags are designed to be a proof of residency of Franklin County for use after a major storm or other event that requires an evacuation.
The tags hang from your rear-view mirror, and make it easier for police to recognize you as a county resident which might allow you back into Franklin County more quickly after an evacuation.
The tags are also color coded by your city of residence.
People on the eastern end of the county can apply for their tags on Saturday from 10 till 3 at the Carrabelle Fire House.
You simply need to bring a photo ID like a driver’s license and proof of residence like a utility bill.
You can pick up a re-entry tag at the Emergency Management office at the Apalachicola Airport.
The EOC recently extended its hours to Monday through Friday from 9 till 6 to make it more convenient for people to stop by after work.
You can also fill out the form on-line at franklinemergencymanagement.com though you will still have to go to the emergency management office to pick up your tag.
