Changes take effect in BP claims process

If you live in Franklin County and have filed a claim with BP, you may need to do a little more paperwork before the claim is processed.

The BP claims process was recently taken over by the federal government.

The local BP Claims office at the old Apalachicola High School has now been renamed the Gulf Coast Claims Facility – the facility is open from 8 AM till 9 PM.

Because of the switchover, people who have filed claims with BP have now been assigned a new claim number and should get a letter soon from the Gulf Coast Claims Facility with the new claim number on it.

Once you have received the letter you will have to file a new claim under new procedures which should be outlined in the letter.

If you don’t get a letter or have other questions you can stop by the Gulf Coast Claims Facility at the old Apalachicola High School or call them at 653-4785.
