Franklin County remains under state emergency declaration because of potential oil impacts

Franklin County and counties to the west of us will remain under a state of emergency through at least October because of the potential impacts of oil in the Gulf of Mexico.

On Thursday Governor Charlie Crist agreed to extend the state of emergency through October the 27th – Franklin County has been under the emergency declaration since May the 3rd.

While the governor did extend the emergency declaration for Franklin County and areas west of us because of a continued threat of oil impacts, he did remove 19 counties from the emergency declaration.

That includes all counties from Wakulla County south to Miami-Dade.
