Gadsden County accident pours diesel fuel into Ochlocknee River

An accident Monday in Gadsden County dumped nearly 200 gallons of diesel fuel into the Ochlocknee River.

The accident happened just after 6 o’clock in the morning on I-10.

A semi truck was traveling west from Leon County in to Gadsden County when the driver lost control of the vehicle on the Ochlocknee River Bridge.

The semi climbed the south bridge wall and came to rest with the tractor trailer hanging off the roadway and over the river.

The driver, 49 year old Dale Lucas of Villages, Florida, was uninjured though he was charged with careless driving.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection was called out to remove as much spilled fuel from the river as possible.
