Florida Legislature to hold special session on Tuesday

The Florida legislature will meet in a one-day special session on Tuesday where it plans to resurrect nine bills that were vetoed by Governor Charlie Crist during the past legislative session.
The list of items the legislature will address includes ending a rule that would require residential home sellers along the coast to disclose the home’s windstorm mitigation rating to homebuyers, allowing the disposal of yard trash in Class I landfills, and allowing the owners of agricultural land to retain their zoning even while they are selling their property for another use.
The legislature will also reconsider a rule that will require the state to compile a comprehensive database of state owned property, and one that would require the legislature to approve any new state rule that would have a substantial impact on small businesses.
The legislature will also consider stopping the implementation of a rule that would require homeowners to have their septic tanks inspected and cleaned every 5 years.
Legislative leaders say all of the issues passed the legislature with overwhelming majorities but were vetoed by the governor for various reasons.
They said dealing with the issues now will clear their desks for the spring session.
