Franklin County Commission meets Tuesday morning in Apalachicola


Franklin County commissioners will swear in their newly re-elected members and choose a chairperson and vice chair when they meet tomorrow in Apalachicola.
County judge Van Russell will officially swear in Smokey Parrish who ran unopposed this year Cheryl Sanders who defeated two candidates in the general election to keep her district 2 seat for another 4 years.
The commission will also decide whether to allow Smokey Parrish and Bevin Putnal to remain as chairman and vice–chairman of the commission or whether to change leadership for the next year.
The county commission will also present a Resolution of Appreciation to Ms. Helen Spohrer for her service on the county’s Tourist Development Board.
She recently left the board where she served as chairperson – that position is now held by Cheryl Sanders.
Her husband, John Spohrer owner of the public access channel Forgotten Coast TV will update the county about ongoing negotiations with Mediacom to keep the channel on the air.
Mister Spohrer told the TDC last week that he plans to move the channel on-line and is seeking 60 thousand dollars a year from the TDC if they would like to continue running their program on the channel.
The county commission meeting is open to the public, so if you would like to attend – it will begin at 9 tomorrow morning at the Franklin County courthouse Annex in Apalachicola.
