Noah Lockley named county commission chairman


County commissioners took care of a little organizational business on Tuesday.
The meeting started with the swearing in of two re-elected commissioners.
Cheryl Sanders and Smokey Parrish both returned to the board for another 4 year term – they were sworn in by county judge Van Russell.
Commissioner Sanders pointed out that the date, November 16th, has proved to be very important to her.
Her father died on that day in 1991, a little girl was born into her family exactly one year later, she took her first oath of office on November the 16th 1998, and her fourth on November 16th, 2010.
After the swearing in the Franklin County Commission chose a new chairman.
The board agreed unanimously to name District 3 commissioner Noah Lockley to take the chairman’s seat.
He served as vice-chairman this year.
Commissioner Cheryl Sanders was named vice-chairperson for the next year.
