Forestry workers do controlled burn near Eastpoint

The Division of Forestry will be doing a controlled burn today in an area just north of Eastpoint.

The controlled burn will be done in the Bear Creek area on 2500 acres between the DEP building and Highway 65.

The fire will be around Magnolia Ridge and Wilderness Road.

The controlled burn will begin around 11 this morning; it is being done to clear underbrush and other potential fuel for wildfires.

Forestry officials say they chose today because the winds should keep the smoke out of Eastpoint, but they say the fire will look substantial.
