SGI Chili Cookoff
Heats Up March 3-5
The 29th annual St. George Island Charity Chili Cookoff fires up the burners March 3-5 to herald in what some consider the official beginning of Spring on St. George Island. The festivities begin on Thursday, March 3 with a golf tournament and continue through Saturday with the chili competition and popular auction. For island information, visit www.seestgeorgeisland.com Also during March, a Full Moon Climb at the Cape St. George Lighthouse on St. George Island will take place on Saturday, March 19 as part of a series of sunset/full moon climbs currently scheduled through June. The St. Vincent Island National Wildlife Refuge will host its annual Open House on Saturday March 26 with wildlife exhibits, nature walks, presentations and tours. This annual two day Spring Festival features original artwork, music and food. A pet-friendly event, the festival features events like a Fishy Fashion Show, Pet Parade and the Procession of the Species.
