The cost of disposing of Franklin County’s household trash has just gone up.
The tipping fee is what the Waste Management Company collects per ton of household garbage it hauls out of county for final disposal.
The tipping fee has gone up by nearly a dollar a ton to 46.55 cents.
The new tipping fee took effect on Tuesday.
Solid Waste Director Van Johnson said the increase is based on a 2.2 percent rise in the Consumer Price Index.
