County Commissioners discuss buying ipads

County commissioners are taking a big step into the computer age.

The board last week agreed to look at getting ipads for each commissioner.

The board asked that Clerk of the Court secretary Michael Moron look at the costs of procuring the machines.

If the board does get ipads, they would be paid for from the commissioner’s discretionary fund.

Cheryl Sanders said the tablet computers would help the county cut down on the cost of paper and maybe save a tree.

The board is usually inundated with reports before each meeting, some can be hundreds of pages long, but if each commissioner had an ipad or something similar there would be no need to make multiple copies of each report.

That would save time and possibly money.

It would also give each commissioner instant access to the information whenever he needed it.

The board will get a cost estimate at their next meeting.
