~ Florida Pavilion" Shows Commercial Buyers From Around the Globe That Florida Seafood is Safe, Wholesome and Plentiful ~
Florida seafood companies are showing commercial buyers from around the world that Florida seafood is safe, wholesome and plentiful at the International Boston Seafood Show. The event, which runs March 20-22, is the largest annual seafood show in the nation and attracts thousands of seafood professionals from more than 130 countries.
“Florida’s Gulf seafood is fresh, safe and abundant,” said Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam. “The quality of Florida seafood has not been affected by last year’s oil spill.”
Each year, the marketing team at the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services coordinates and hosts the Florida Pavilion, where Florida companies exhibit and promote their products. At-show sales generated by exhibiting Florida companies averaged $14.5 million annually over the past five years.
“For 20 years, the Florida Pavilion has helped Florida seafood companies promote their products at this global venue,” said Nelson Mongiovi, Director of Marketing for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. “This year’s event is an important opportunity to show buyers from around the world that the quality of Florida seafood has not been affected by the Gulf oil spill.”
The focal point of this year’s Florida Pavilion is the “Florida Gulf Safe” message and logo, which many Florida seafood producers and retailers have been displaying on packaging and point-of-sale materials since last fall.
The seven companies exhibiting at this year’s Florida Pavilion are: Shaw’s Southern Belle Frozen Foods; Florida Seagrant; Wood’s Fisheries; Incredible Fish; Southeastern Seaproducts; Florida Fresh Stone Crab; and the Florida Alligator Marketing and Education Committee.
The Florida Pavilion and other seafood marketing initiatives are part of the Florida Agricultural Promotional Campaign (FAPC), also known as “Fresh From Florida.” By joining the FAPC, both small and large producers can benefit from the marketing programs conducted by the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
