30 million in BP money coming to Northwest Florida

30 Million dollars in BP money is coming to Florida to help bring visitors to Northwest Florida.
The $30-million marketing grant will go directly to the Northwest Florida Tourism Council coalition, which includes Gulf, and Franklin counties.
The Coalition was created by seven tourism development councils many years ago to market Northwest Florida through a regional partnership.
The three-year grant has to be used to promote tourism.
During that time the coalition will have to provide quarterly updates to BP who will evaluate the expenditures and measure the success of their investment through things like visitation numbers, bed tax collections and economic impact.
Florida governor Rick Scott said this is just one small step on the road to recovery and he will continue to hold BP accountable to the Floridians and businesses that lost millions of dollars because of the oil spill.
