Franklin County homeowners eligible for discount on homeowners insurance

Franklin County homeowners are now eligible for a 10 percent discount on their homeowner’s insurance policy for houses built in the past 10 years because of the good job the local building department is doing.

The Franklin County building department received a good ranking from the Building Code Effectiveness Grading classification which is part of the Insurance Service Organization.

That group rates fire departments and now building departments.

According to Alan Pierce the building department got a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the best.

The 10 percent discount is on top of a 10 percent discount homeowners get on their flood insurance premiums because Franklin county adheres to the federal flood insurance program.
