Food banks share in settlement from vitamin price-fixing scheme

Eight food banks around Florida will share in nearly $1.7 million dollars in grants from a settlement with vitamin suppliers engaged in an illegal vitamin price-fixing scheme.

America's Second Harvest of the Big Bend which serves the ten counties of the Big Bend including Wakulla, Liberty, Franklin and Gulf Counties will get just under 50 thousand dollars from the settlement.

The multi-state, class action settlement was reached in 2010.

The settlement agreement requires the money to be used for the improvement of health and/or nutrition of the citizens of Florida which is why the settlement money is going to area food banks.
