Franklin County commission meets Tuesday

Franklin County commissioners may finally see this week how tough it will be to fund next year’s budget.

The board will meet tomorrow with the county property appraiser to see how much local property values have dropped over the past year.

Those numbers will have a direct impact on how much the county can bring in without raising taxes and how much they are going to have to cut to balance the budget.

The county commission will also meet with Health Department chief Wesley Tice to talk about the health departments move from the Chapman Building and the board will get a Tourist Development Council update from TDC administrator Curt Blair.

Also on Tuesday’s agenda is an update on an ongoing water and sewer project in Eastpoint.

If you would like to attend the county commission it is open to the public.

It begins at 9 tomorrow morning at the Franklin County Courthouse Annex in Apalachicola.
