School district hires consulting firm to help with budget work

The Franklin County School Board has agreed to hire a consulting firm to help the school system’s finance office this summer.

The school district will pay 50 dollars an hour to Carnley Consulting to help with a number of financial matters including preparing financial statements.

The company will work with the school district through September the 30th.

School finance officer Roy Carroll said his office needs the help because of the importance of getting the budget complete in a timely manner as well as his relative inexperience and because of a high turnover at the school finance office this year.

Carnley consulting will assist in the preparation of district budget documents and financial reports.

The company will also help prepare the 5 year work plan and respond to the auditor general during this year’s audit.

Mister Carroll said he expects that the bulk of the work will be done by school employees but the consultants will be there to share their experience and lend a helping hand.
