ABC School sees its school grade drop

School grades were released on Thursday and the Apalachicola Bay charter School saw its grade slip a little from an “A” to a “B”.

That’s the lowest grade the school has seen since 2007.

The school showed increased scores in math and science this year but some declines in reading and writing scores.

The ABC School was one of 458 schools statewide to receive a B grade this year.

Grades for the Franklin County School have not yet been released – High School and consolidated school grades will be released later this year.

Because of a change in the grading guidelines for High Schools this year – the data needed to give a final grade for the consolidated school will not be available until the Fall.

Gulf County school had a pretty good report card this year – the Port St. Joe Elementary and Middle Schools both earned A grades this year.

The Wewahitchka elementary and middle schools both earned B’s.

School grades have been issued since 1999 – they are primarily based on the results of the FCAT standardized test that is taken by most Florida students every year.
