Residents and visitors on St. George Island need to try to conserve electricity as much as possible this weekend.
The entire island is getting its electricity from a number of generators that have been placed at various locations around the island.
The generators will remain in place while Progress Energy repairs two power poles in the Apalachicola Bay that were damaged during a severe storm early in the week.
Those repairs are expected to take a number of days to complete.
If you are on the island this weekend, the power company asks that you keep your air conditioner at 78 degrees or higher and your water heater at 120 degrees or below.
They also ask that any unnecessary electronics be turned off until the power lines are repaired.
