County commissioners recognized three local all-star baseball teams on Tuesday for making it to the state tournament this year.
The players ranged from 5 to about 12 years old.
Each of the players received a medallion for his hard work.
One player on the 9 and 10 year old team received a special mention.
Christopher Newell, a pitcher and shortstop, received some extra attention because he was named MVP for the game that Franklin County won during the tournament.
He was 3 for 4 in batting and struck out 9 players in the three innings he pitched.
Commission chairman Noah Lockley congratulated all of the players for their success this year – he said the board will be looking for the big trophy next year.
