County
commissioners will hold a public hearing on Tuesday morning to discuss a
possible settlement with the St. Joe Company.
The St. Joe
Company is suing the county for nearly six and a half million dollars for
damages its says it suffered after Franklin County removed four Future land use
maps from the county’s comprehensive plan.
The land use
maps were added to the comp plan in 2005’ they showed areas east of Carrabelle
where the St. Joe Company planned to build thousands of homes.
The housing
market crashed before the company could begin work on any of the developments.
The county
removed the land use maps in 2009.
Tuesday’s
public hearing will allow the county to hear a settlement proposal in the case.
The hearing
will be part of the county’s regular meeting.
Other items on
the agenda include a public hearing on a funeral service ordinance, as well as
a bid opening for the Daly House in Lanark Village.
The board will

Sanitation Commission.
