Lawson named to Presidential Primary Selection Committee

Our ex-state senator Al Lawson has a new part-time job.

Lawson, a Democrat, was named by Governor Rick Scott to the Presidential Primary Selection Committee.
Lawson will join 2 other democrats and 6 republicans later this week to hash out when Florida will hold its presidential preference primary.
It’s a pretty big decision and one that could have an impact nationally.
There is pressure in Florida to move its primary date up – its been tentatively set for Jan. 31^st.
If that stays it would violate the rules of the Republican National Committee which only allows Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina to hold their primaries before March 6th.
