Fall brings festivals to
the area and the cooler temperatures also prompt many area lodging
partners to launch fall travel specials and activities.

Second Saturday in Apalach Features Blues Bands

Full Moon Climb at Cape St. George Lighthouse
The
September Full Moon Climb at the Cape St. George Lighthouse on St.
George Island will be held on Monday, September 12, 2011. The
Sunset/Full Moon Climb will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and
will include light hors d'oeuvres and a sparkling cider toast to the
full moon. Cost is $15.00 for the general public and $10.00 for members
of the St. George Lighthouse Association. The recently opened
Lighthouse Museum and Gift Shop will be open from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
on the evening of the Full Moon Climb.
The sun
will set at 7:49 p.m. and the moon will rise at 7:45 p.m. on September
12. The almost simultaneous sunset and moonrise should be a spectacular
sight from the top of the lighthouse.
The Cape
St. George Light is located in St. George Lighthouse Park at the center
of St. George Island, where Island Drive (the road off the bridge) ends
at Gulf Beach Drive. Parking is available in lots at either side of the
park. Space is limited and reservations are recommended. For
