More Florida kids take the SATs in 2011 but the scores were lower
The Florida Department of Education released district scores for the SAT college entrance exam this week – and even though more students took the test last year, the scores were lower on average.
The SAT is in three parts the highest combined score you can get is a 2400.
A score of 1550 is considered a good sign that the student is ready for college.
Florida's average combined score was 1447.
More than 114,000 Florida students in the Class of 2011 took the SAT.
Franklin County did not have enough seniors to take the test last year for the state to release statistics for us.
Gulf County had 7 seniors take the test last year – their mean score was at least 500 on all three parts of the test.
Liberty County had 6 seniors who took the SAT , Wakulla County had 70.
