The Florida
Department of Environmental will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on October the
6th to mark the completion of the resurfacing and widening project
for the Tallahassee-St. Marks Historic Railroad State Trail.
The 16-mile trail was Florida’s first,
paved rail-trail which was originally built with an 8-foot wide surface.
After 20 years of service it had to be
repaired and the trail was widened to 12 feet to meet current state and
national standards.
Thursday’s ribbon cutting marks the
Trail’s return to full service.
The ribbon cutting will take place at 10 AM Thursday, Oct. 6th at the Main Trailhead at 4778 Woodville Highway
