First Ever SGI Home Tour Planned for February 2012
If you’ve ever wanted to glimpse
inside some of the magnificent beach homes on St. George Island, this
spring you’ll get your chance. The first-ever St. George Island Tour of
Homes will be held Feb. 3-4, 2012. Sponsored by the St. George
Lighthouse Association, Inc, the two day event will feature lectures and
tours. Tickets cost $15 in advance and $20 the day of the event.
“We have a great selection of homes
from the Plantation to the East End and from the beachfront to the bay,”
said Dany Ray, event co-chairperson. “We have modern and traditional
beach-front homes, bay-front homes and historic homes. This is the
first and best chance for people to get a total view of the island
lifestyle from inside some of our best and most interesting homes.”

The St. George Lighthouse Association
is a not-for-profit Florida corporation organized to preserve, maintain
and promote the Cape St. George lighthouse, which was restored on 2008
after collapsing in 2005. SLGA also built a replica of the original
lighthouse keeper’s house which is now a museum and gift shop. SLGA
continues to raise funds for the on-going maintenance of the light, the
keeper’s house and St. George Lighthouse Park.

Jan. 6-8 – Dixie
Theatre, Apalachicola. Florida Girls | In the tradition of Lily Tomlin,
Nancy Hasty brings her one-woman show with 15 hilarious true-to-life
characters to the Forgotten Coast of Florida.
Jan. 8 – Ilse Newell
Concert Series – Trinity Church, Apalachicola. Adam Kossler, Guitar -
Back by popular demand, Adam Kossler is a doctoral candidate at FSU and
award-winning classical guitarist. Concert 4 p.m.
Jan. 13 – 14 - The
Second Annual Oyster Cook-Off, Apalachicola. Friday evening event will
be a preview of the oyster-related silent auction items, along with a
sampling of the Apalachicola Bay's tasty bivalves. Cook-off on Saturday
beginning at 10 a.m.; contestants are encouraged to enter with their
favorite recipe. All forms of oysters will be available to taste: raw,
steamed and fried. Other food items and refreshments will be available
for purchase also. The day's activities will include live music and
dancing performances.

– Dixie Theatre, Apalachicola Margo Anderson’s Tribute to Patsy Cline -

Theatre, Apalachicola Pas de Vie Ballet - show times to be determined |
Tallahassee’s premiere ballet company returns to the Dixie after a
fabulous standing ovation performance in 2011, it will take your breath
away.
Jan. 29 Ilse Newell Concert Series – Trinity Church, Apalachicola. David Kalhous, Piano
Visiting FSU Professor, David Kalhous has appeared as soloist with international orchestras worldwide. Concert 4 p.m.

Allen Show - Fri, Sat 8 PM, Sun 3 PM | Spectacular tribute artist Todd
Alan Herendeen & his Follow That Dream Band have become one of the
Dixie Theatre’s most popular shows…Elvis is joined by Johnny Cash and
Roy Orbison among others.

determined | The top ragtime/boogie-woogie pianist today, Bob delights
audiences with his piano-playing pyrotechnics and his infectious
enthusiasm for the music and the history behind the music. At the Dixie
for his 13th year!
Feb. 3-4 - St. George
Island Tour of Homes 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. sponsored by the St. George
Lighthouse Association, Inc. Tickets cost $15 in advance and $20 on Feb.

Feb. 7 – St. George
Island Snowbird Day, sponsored by the St. George Island Business
Association. The county's winter visitors are invited to spend the day
on St. George Island. If you consider yourself a visitor to the area,
you're welcome to participate! Events will include a raffle "run" to
the local businesses, fishing tournament, lighthouse climb, state park
entry and hike, island tour, bridge walk, bingo, a visit to the new
Estuarine Nature Center, and dinner with a cash bar. Register at any St.
