Franklin
County commissioners have scheduled a public hearing for Tuesday to do away
with local gun laws.
The public hearing is scheduled for
10:15 tomorrow morning during the county commission’s regular meeting.
The county is being forced to repeal
local gun laws because of a new state rule that took effect this year that
gives the state government authority over all gun laws.
Other items on tomorrow’s agenda
include a presentation from the group Students Working Against Tobacco on a
county smoke-free plan as well as a presentation from the group 211 Big Bend.
211 Big Bend is a free phone service
that provides emotional support, crisis counseling, suicide prevention and
information.
Seafood Worker Association President
Shannon Hartsfield will update the county on the Association’s activities and
county library director Glenda Ondracek will introduce the new administrator
for the Wilderness Coast Public Library System.
The Wilderness coast system provides
library services to Franklin, Wakulla and Jefferson counties through bookmobile
services and high-speed Internet.
County commission meetings are open
to the public.
If you would like to attend it begins
at 9 tomorrow morning at the Franklin County Courthouse annex in Apalachicola.
