County commissioners prepare to interview for new county administrator

On January the 17th Franklin County Commissioners will interview 7 people who would like to serve as the county’s “Director of Administrative Services.”

Alan Pierce, who has worked for Franklin County for 24 years, said he retire on March the 30th – though he could be willing to stay till April 15th if he has to.

Mister Pierce’s job is pretty expansive ranging from planning and zoning issues to overseeing many of the county’s operations and projects.

Commissioners say they will interview each of the 7 applicants after their next county commission meeting.

They hope to have a rating sheet creatied by then so they can more easily judge each applicant using a numerical system.

Even though Mister Pierce has a masters degree in growth management, commissioners said they would not require a college degree for Alan’s replacement.

Commissioner Noah Lockley said he would like to see a veteran’s preference since it is a governmnet job and commissioner Bevin Putnal said he hopes the applicants are local and know whats going on in the county.
