Grades
for Florida’s
high schools were released on Wednesday – the Franklin
County
high school received a B.
It
was one of 224 high school that earned a
"B" grade this year, compared to 188 schools last year. The High School also received a B grade last year.
The high school grade is earned based on two major elements: 50 percent from the performance of each school’s students on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test, and 50 percent from factors including the school’s graduation rate, its performance and participation in Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment classes and the college readiness of high-achieving students as measured by the SAT, ACT, or College Placement Test.
Other high school grades in the area, Port
St. Joe high school saw its grade rise from a B to an A, while Wewahitchka High
School, Liberty County High School and Wakulla high all received B grades for
the second year in a row.
All of the schools have an opportunity to
appeal their grade through February 3rd.
