Governor Stone is back in Franklin County this month

The Historic Governor Stone is back in Franklin County this month.

The Governor Stone was built in 1877 in Pascagoula, Mississippi making it the oldest sailing vessel still in service on the Gulf Coast and the second oldest operating schooner in the United States.

It is also a National Historic Landmark.

It was housed in Franklin County from 1990 till 2003 when it became too expensive to keep here.

Thanks to the City of Carrabelle and the Franklin County Tourist Development Council, this ship is now docked at the Waterfront Dock next to the fishing pavilion on Marine Street for the month of March.

The ship is open for tours and sails on the weekends and by appointment.

If you would like to schedule a cruise or a tour call Cal Allen at 850-524-1124 for more information.
