BP money will help promote youth sports

A little left over BP advertising money is going to help publicize local youth sports.

Last week Helen Spohrer, who has been in charge of promoting Franklin County using money from BP, got permission to make a few last minute spending changes before the advertising program ends at the end of April.

Some of the leftover money was directed for a last push to advertise Franklin County to people living in Nashville, Tennessee.

About 15 thousand dollars, however, was shifted for use by the county Parks and Recreation Department.

The money was originally dedicated for Franklin County promotional items like T-shirts, mugs and bumper stickers and will still have to be used for that.

The difference is that instead of t-shirts promoting the whole county, the money can now be used to create promotional items for local recreational events.
