Getting
a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing just got easier.
This
program will build on the College's existing Associate in Science nursing
program and provide nursing students with added opportunities for career
advancement and new job possibilities.
Gulf
Coast State College said that community and student interest in the program has
been extremely strong over the last few years since at present, there are no
institutions in this region that confer the bachelor of Science in Nursing
degree.
Support
by local health care agencies, including those who provide clinical practice
environments, has been overwhelmingly positive.
And
Florida 's Agency for Workforce Innovation says
there should be jobs for graduates.
They
estimate there will be an annual average of 63 job openings for Registered
Nurses in Workforce Region 4 through 2018.
The
agency estimates that there were nearly 1500 Nursing jobs in the area in 2010,
and projects that this will increase to nearly 1800 jobs by 2018.
