Swimming should be great weekend for swimming in Franklin County

It should be another beautiful weekend for swimming in the Gulf of Mexico.

There are no swimming advisories in Franklin or Wakulla Counties this weekend, though for the first time in a long time, officials measured moderate levels of bacteria at Alligator Point.

They did not find enough to require a swimming advisory.

Water samples were taken from 5 beaches in Franklin County and 2 in Wakulla County on April 23rd.

The tests are for bacteria that could indicate that the waters are unsafe for swimming.

Testing locations include the St. George Island public beach, Carrabelle beach and Alligator Point as well as Shell Point.

The state also tests in Gulf County.

The last results posted for Gulf County were taken on April the 16th when the health department issued swimming advisories for three beaches including St. Joe Beach, Dixie belle beach and the St. Joe Monument Beach.

You can see water sample results from beaches across Florida from the Department of Health’s healthy beaches website.
