Franklin
County Commissioners are putting the pressure on our state representative to
get behind the RESTORE Act which could put millions of dollars into Franklin county.
The RESTORE Act is legislation that would
designate 80 percent of Clean Water Act fines stemming from the 2010 BP oil
spill to Gulf states for restoration efforts.
But the
legislation is being tied up by politics in the House and commissioners say
they want our congressman to know this legislation is important for Franklin County and for the Gulf Coast .
The board
agreed Tuesday to send a letter to Representative Steve Southerland supporting
the Restore Act and letting him know that Franklin County wants the politics
put aside and the RESTORE ACT approved as soon as possible.
