Local rule-breakers keep FWC busy

Fish and Wildlife officers have been busy in Franklin County over the past week.

According to their weekly activity report, FWC Officers issued a number of citations over the past week for violations of closed fishing seasons and for possession of undersized fish.

That includes citations for the possession of red snapper during closed season as well as possession of snapper filets.

They also issued citations for possession of undersize black sea bass and undersized greater amberjack.

Federal citations were also issued for possession of red drum and possession of gag grouper during closed season.

And it wasn’t just on Franklin County; in Gulf County, officers caught two individuals in possession of red snapper, with one of the fish hidden in the aft hatch.

The captain admitted to catching the fish and was aware the season was closed.

He was issued a citation for possession of red snapper during the closed season.
