1 killed, two hospitalized in Apalachicola bridge accident

A 65 year old man from Highland View was killed in a 2 vehicle accident on the Apalachicola Bridge late Thursday morning.

John Parker was killed in the accident, his 97 year old passenger, Agnes Parker of Port St. Joe, was critically injured.

The accident happened about a mile west of the Bayshore Drive intersection in Eastpoint at about 11:40 Thursday morning.

The Highway patrol said the accident happened after Robert Creamer of Eastpoint drove his 2003 Dodge pickup out of the eastbound lane of the bridge into the path of Mister Parker’s westbound 1988 Dodge pickup.

Mister Creamer’s truck hit the drivers side front of Mister Parker’s truck, the rear of Mister Parker’s truck then hit the concrete barrier on the north side of the bridge.

The Highway patrol said they do not yet know what caused Mister Creamer to veer into the opposing lane, but the accident is under investigation.
