Franklin County Commission gives 5000 dollars to send DEBS to softball world series in Virginia

The Franklin County Commission has agreed to provide 5000 dollars to help send the Franklin County Dixie Youth DEBS softball team to Virginia to play in the Dixie Youth World Series in August.

The 12 girl team went undefeated during the state tournament last weekend – The team will now head to Powhatan Virginia on August 3rd to play softball teams from around the Southeast.

They could be in Virginia for up to 7 days.

The 5000 dollars from the county will barely cover a third of getting the girls to and from the World Series – the team will need much more help from private citizens and local businesses to make the trip.

The girls do plan to hold fund-raisers over the next few weeks, but they really don’t have much time.

If you would like to make a donation to the cause, you can make your checks to Dixie Youth League Girls and send them to 210 State Road 65, Eastpoint, Florida 32328.

You can also contact the teams head coach, Kevin Newell to make a donation at 370-6176.
