Pennycuffs called outstanding citizens of Franklin County

Franklin County commissioners this week recognized an Eastpoint family for the good work it does in the community.

The Pennycuff’s, who own and operate Fisherman’s Choice in Eastpoint, received a resolution of appreciation for the annual Kids’ fishing tournament the family hosts each year.

The family started the tournament in 1999, and the one day event now attracts over 250 kids every year.

The Pennycuffs even spend their own money to make sure that each of the kids get a rod and reel and other prizes for taking part.

The commission called the Pennycuffs outstanding citizens of Franklin County.

The Pennycuffs were also recognized for work they do with other non-profits and events and for offering to pay the monthly water bill at the Eastpoint cemetery when the water company planned to cut the service.

Rex Pennycuff said much of the success of the tournament also goes to the volunteers who help every year, rain or shine.
