Sacred Heart to Provide Free Health Screenings in August
Sacred Heart Health System will provide a variety of free health screenings in August at locations in Pensacola,Pensacola Beach, Apalachicola, Port St. Joe, and Orange Beach, Ala. These screenings are designed primarily for adults who are poor, elderly and uninsured.
A variety of screenings will be held during the month, from heart-health and osteoporosis screenings for adults to hearing-and-vision screenings for children. Heart-health screenings measure blood pressure, blood sugar and total cholesterol and check for anemia. These screenings are helpful in diagnosing conditions that put people at high risk for heart attack, stroke, diabetes and other health problems.
Sacred Heart’s Mission in Motion staff will provide screenings at the following locations:
- Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Medical Group office of Dr. Robert Head, 55 Avenue E.,Apalachicola, Fla. Hearing and vision screenings (for children ages 3 to 18 only).
- Aug. 4 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Scallop Festival in Port St. Joe, Fla. Total cholesterol and blood-sugar screenings (non-fasting) only.
- Aug. 7 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, 920 Via DeLuna Drive, PensacolaBeach. Oral-health screenings only.
- Aug. 8 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Myrtle Grove United Methodist Church, 1030 N. 57th St., Pensacola. Hearing and vision screenings (for children ages 3 to 18 only).
- Aug. 9 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 401 Van Pelt Lane, Pensacola. Osteoporosis screenings only.
- Aug. 15 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 10650 Gulf Beach Highway, Pensacola. Heart-health screenings.
- Aug. 16 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Wesley Scott Place, 3300 West Scott St., Pensacola. Heart-health screenings.
- Aug. 18 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 425 E. Anderson St., Pensacola. Total cholesterol and blood-sugar screenings.
- Aug. 21 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Orange Beach Senior Center, 26251 Canal Road, Orange Beach, Ala. Heart-health screenings (non-fasting)
- Aug. 22 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, 6495 Lillian Highway, Pensacola. Osteoporosis screenings only.
During the month of August, Sacred Heart's Mission in Motion staff will continue to work to enroll children in the Florida KidCare health-insurance program for income-eligible families of children from birth to age 18. We need to take care of our heart. This type of mission is really very necessary to make people aware about their health.
