Local disaster recovery center closing on Saturday

Tropical Storm Debby survivors have until Saturday to visit the disaster recovery center in Franklin County.

Representatives from the Florida Division of Emergency Management, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U. S. Small Business Administration and other agencies are at the center to explain disaster assistance programs and help people apply for aid.

People who need face-to-face help should visit the center by Saturday before 6 PM.

The Center is located at the old Apalachicola High School at 192 14th Street in Apalachicola.

Officials say that traffic to the Apalachicola center has slowed down; indicating that most people who need the help have probably already received it.

The disaster recovery center in Crawfordville will also change to a a disaster loan outreach center operated by the U.S. Small Business Administration beginning next Monday, August 6th.

The center will remain open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day through Thursday, Aug ust 9th.
