The screenings are designed primarily for adults who are poor, elderly and uninsured though there are also some screenings for children.

The screenings will include heart-health and osteoporosis screenings for adults to hearing-and-vision screenings for children.

Hearthealth screenings measure blood pressure, blood sugar and total cholesterol and check for anemia.

Locally there will be Hearing and vision screenings for children ages 3 to 18 only on Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Sacred Heart Medical Group office of Dr. Robert Head which is at 55 Avenue E in Apalachicola.

On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Total cholesterol and blood-sugar screenings will be offered at the Scallop Festival in Port St. Joe, Fla.
