Local unemployment rate drops in September


Franklin County unemployment dropped for the second month in a row in September.

Local unemployment fell slightly from 6.4 percent to 6.3 percent; Franklin County has the 4th lowest unemployment rate in the state.

361 people were looking for work in Franklin County last month, down from 368 people in August.

Gulf County also saw a small drop in unemployment from 8.5 to 8.3 percent.

516 people were looking for work in Gulf County in September, down from 534 a month earlier.

In Wakulla County the unemployment rate fell from 6.8 to 6.5 percent, in Liberty County unemployment fell from 7.2 percent to 6.7 percent.

The Statewide seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 8.7 percent – slightly lower than a month earlier.
