State workers collect food to help seafood workers

State workers from a number of agencies collected and delivered food for local seafood workers last week. Workers from a number of agencies including FWC, DOT, and DEP brought in non-perishable food. Food was also collected by a number of Leon County schools. 4 truckloads of everything from soup to canned chicken was brought to the Baptist Church in Eastpoint where it will now be distributed to seafood workers and elderly people who need it. The pictures you are seeing here don't show the entire donation. The box truck that was used to bring the biggest load of donations got a flat tire on the trip down from Tallahassee and had not made it to the church before I had to leave. As you can see, people from around the community and from various churches helped with the unloading.
