County commissioners on Tuesday
accepted a bid from Albritton-Williams contractors out of Tallahassee to do
needed repair work to the Armory in Apalachicola.
Albritton-Williams was one of three companies to bid on the
project, which includes replacing the roof on the one story building connected
to the Armory.
The roof on that building is causing some major damage to
the building including to the main electrical box.
The company will also install emergency lighting and a fire
alarm system in the 108-year-old building.
There is much more work that needs to be done but these
projects will use up much the county’s 250 thousand dollar budget for the
armory repairs.
Albritton Williams was the low bidder for the project.
They will receive 176,500 dollars for the work.
Commissioners plan to renovate the armory so it can serve as
a local convention center.
