Commissioners approve 7500 to install lighting at future museum site

Franklin County is moving forward on a project to create a seafood heritage museum at the Lombardi seafood park in Apalachicola.

The county commission on Tuesday agreed to spend 7500 dollars so Cates Electric can install new lighting in the old seafood house at the park.

The building has already received a new roof and paint job.

Metal doors have also been installed to keep people out while the

 building is upgraded.

Funding for the museum project is coming from the Franklin County Tourist Development Council.

That group has set aside 30 thousand dollars to be spent on the museum through 2013.

The county hopes that once the museum is complete it will draw tourists to the park to learn more about the importance of the seafood industry to Franklin County.
