Sanders named County Commission chairman; Massey named Vice-chair

County commissioners took care of a little organizational business on Tuesday.

The meeting started with the swearing in of newly elected commissioner William Massey and the two re-elected commissioners, Noah Lockley and Pinki Jackel.

County judge Van Russell swore them in.

After the swearing in ceremony the Commission chose a new chairman for the upcoming year.

District 2 commissioner Cheryl Sanders nominated herself saying she hasn’t been chairman since 2006.

The other commissioners accepted her nomination unanimously.

District 5 commissioner William Massey was named vice-chairperson for the next year.
