Franklin County Commissioners have
agreed to name November as Big Bend Hospice Month.
The commission approved a resolution in support of hospice
on Tuesday.
This month is the 29th anniversary of the group, which
provides compassionate care to people with life limiting illnesses and their
families.
It also provides grief counseling for people of all ages,
including counseling for people who have lost pets.
Sandi Hengel, who represented the Franklin County Advisory
Board for Big Bend Hospice, said the group currently has 18 patients in
Franklin County and all of its employees, which include a Registered Nurse and
a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, live in the county.
If you would like to learn more about Big Bend Hospice
including how to volunteer with the group you can find out more at their
website at www.bigbendhospice.org.
The group will also hold a lighting of the luminaries
ceremony in Apalachicola on Friday at Dusk at Riverfront Park in Apalachicola.
That ceremony is a way to remember friends and family who
have passed away.
The public is welcome to attend the ceremony and luminaries
are available at Centennial Bank locations
